About the course

The Kitchen Services Apprenticeship will give you a solid grounding for working in the kitchen.  It is ideally suited for people who may be new to a kitchen environment and where the menu or job roles are standard.  It is particularly suited for trainee chefs, fast food service assistants and kitchen assistants/porters.


Job Responsibilities

This person will work in a kitchen alongside other team members supporting the chef in day to day kitchen duties.  They may work on one particular area e.g. starters, desserts but will need to be able to cover other sections to meet the criteria needed.

Their job role will involve:

  • Working safely and hygienically in the kitchen area
  • Maintaining food safety when preparing, cooking, serving and storing food, including updating temperature logs and food safety information
  • Able to set up and close down the kitchen area and equipment
  • Able to prepare and cook basic dishes of vegetables, meat, poultry, cold starters and salads, sandwiches
