Apprenticeships: Helps learners, benefits hirers, progresses businesses and careers, good or great?

Apprenticeships, aged 16 and up, are a great idea for employers and people who want to further their skillset and get on the job training.

Firstly we’re going to talk about the employees, the individuals doing the apprentices if you will. Apprenticeships are roles that ensure you receive full time training to enhance your skill set and gain you work experience which can then lead onto full time work and help you further your career. During your time doing an apprenticeship, you will be assessed and guided by experts in your chosen field of work, where you will gain references for the future, create relationships with your peers and get a feel for the workplace, (and you get paid whilst doing so).

Leading on from this, there are many different sectors that you can in fact choose from to apply for an apprenticeship in (almost 200!) these being areas such as agriculture, construction, care services, public administration, retail and so on and you can apply for any of them as soon as you are out of education if you’d like and this means no university which means absolutely zero student loans!

By working as an apprentice, it can increase your professionalism in the workplace but also in general, they can also help you set realistic goals for your future and career and there may possibly be a fulltime job role at the site where your apprenticeship took place at the end of it.

Whether it be, gaining a range of qualifications , excellent career progression, an e-portfolio to support your job search at the end of it or just the fact that it is truly and utterly exciting, the benefits of being an apprentice are endless!

Moving on, we are going to talk about those who welcome the new apprentices into their company- the employers!

Being an employer is extremely rewarding because you become responsible for the apprentices training and personal/career progression and they go to you for help whilst they’re learning. It makes you have a strong bond from the start and especially because their motivation is so high that it boosts morale and productivity for everyone.

The fact that you are able to help them reach their goals and give back to those who need is a very big benefit.

Apprentices are able to be moulded to the needs of your business which can help you stay on track with your work load whilst also training them, but it can also make the company more competitive as apprentices can bring new, fresh and exciting ideas to the company with a brand new perspective that you might have never thought about doing before. Which does in fact, increase productivity and quality of service for your industry for everyone. Overall, apprentices and apprenticeships are extremely beneficial and exciting for everyone!
